February ’24 update – Achieved milestones!

The first month of the year is already behind us. It was a busy month with great achieved milestones. We underwent an inspection by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) and had various discussions with professors from Wageningen University & Research. We are excited to share these milestones with you and look ahead.

Inspection NVWA
We are pleased to announce that in January, following a visit from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), we have received official recognition as an Aquaculture Production Company. A significant milestone and also a starting point for the continuation of our activities.

The inspection included, among other things, ensuring biosecurity, demonstrating the measures taken to minimize the risk of introducing diseases and disease spread and ensuring the overall health of the shrimp. All of this, combined with the necessary documentation and continuous processing thereof.

Wageningen University & Research
As indicated in the January update, we had an appointment with Wageningen University & Research. During this meeting, we discussed the joint application for a grant, potential long-term collaboration and were given a tour of the research center.

We spoke with professors in the fields of shrimp, breeding and nutrients: dr. ir. A. Palstra, dr. ir. J. Bastiaansen and dr. ir. M. Nederlof. A constructive conversation with promising points for the future. We are currently exploring various options for defining our collaboration.

We’re grateful for the invitation and intention of the WUR. We look forward to a great collaboration.

What’s coming up next?
Starting from early March, it will be possible to submit the subsidy application for innovative projects in aquaculture. Therefore, February will be dedicated to a lot of paperwork and close contact with Wageningen University & Research.

Additionally, we will be focusing on the preparations for breeding in the hatchery. It is set to resume in mid-March.

Furthermore, we hope to finalize the application with the ODMH this month. A process that takes a considerable amount of time, given the strict and stringent requirements.

We keep you posted!
